The demand for technology talents in the Canadian province of British Columbia is increasing at a fast pace. What is BC PNP Tech Pilot?

BC PNP Tech Pilot is a fast-track immigration pathway for in-demand foreign workers and international students. It aims to attract skilled workers to the province of British Columbia, meet the demand for technology talent of the tech companies, and expand the technology talent pool of the province. BC PNP Tech Pilot sends invitations to qualified registrants with valid job offers in the 32 key technology occupations every week. The major advantage for candidates invited under the BC PNP Tech Pilot is that they enjoy speedier processing of their applications. But in order to be eligible, the applicants must have a full-time indeterminate job offer from an eligible BC employer.

 The process

An eligible candidate can register online for the BC PNP Tech Pilot for free after which he/she will receive a registration score. In the registration process, the candidate must provide information regarding his/her supporting BC employer. The highest scoring applicants will receive invitations following the weekly tech draw of the BC PNP Tech Pilot. In order to receive the invitation, the applicant and the employer must meet all the required criteria. From the date when the applicant receives the invitation, he/she can submit a complete online application within 30 days. The application fee is $700.

The applications are processed on priority basis. The selected candidates will receive a nomination under BC PNP with which they can apply for permanent residence in Canada.

The nominated candidates who meet the conditions will receive a work permit support letter. With this letter, they can apply for or renew their work permit. It means, they can keep working throughout the process.

The applicants must have a skill level higher than that required for the 457 visa. Many 457 visa holders depend on the Employer Nomination Scheme to obtain permanent residence in Australia.

  • In order to apply for Employer Nomination Scheme subclass 186 visa, your employer in Australia must nominate you first
  • After the employer submits the nomination, the government will review the business operations of the employer and the position to which you are nominated.
  • You can submit your application within six months after the government approves your nomination
  • The processing of your application may involve skills assessment, English language proficiency test and police checks.

Application Pathways for Employer Nomination Scheme

You can apply for Australian visa under the Employer Nomination Scheme through one of the three application pathways:

  • Temporary Residence Transition: If the applicant has worked with an employer for two years on 457 visa prior to submitting the application. In this pathway, no skills assessment is needed.
  • Direct Entry: In this pathway, the employee will have to undergo a skills assessment. They must also have three years of work experience in the nominated occupation.
  • Agreement Stream: In this case, employer has a Labour Agreement

Requirements

In order to obtain visa under Employer Nomination Scheme, you must fulfill the following requirements:

  • You must have been nominated by your employer within six months before you submit your application.
  • You are under the age of 50 if applying under the Temporary Residence Stream or under the age of 45 if applying under Direct Entry Stream
  • Have the required skills and qualifications
  • Have required English language skills
  • Meet health and character requirements
