Reunite with your parents/grandparents through Canada Super Visa

Canada Super Visa for Parents

It was a few months ago, Canada announced that they were planning to extend the validity of Super Visa for parents per entry to five years from two years. The news was welcomed with so much excitement by the immigrants. Canada Super Visa allows parents and grandparents of Canadian permanent residents and citizens to visit them and stay with them for a maximum period of five years per entry, without having to renew their visa. The validity of Super Visa for parents is 10 years. The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) says that Canada issues around 17000 Super Visas every year.

What is Canada Super Visa?

Canada super visa

Canada Super Visa is a great option for those who wish to bring their parents or grandparents to Canada. It is an alternative to the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP), which grants permanent residence status to parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents. However, the demand for this program is very high and only a limited number of persons would be able to sponsor their parents/grandparents for permanent residence in Canada under this Program. Every year, the IRCC receives around 20000 interest-to-sponsor forms under the PGP program. But only 35000 applications are available.

Further, PGP operates on lottery. But as Super Visa does not operate on lottery, families have greater certainty on whether or not they would obtain the Super Visa. Besides, Super Visa is processed within months while PGP processing may take years. Because of all these reasons, Canada Super Visa is a viable choice for those who plan to bring their parents or grandparents to Canada.
