In the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) draw held on December 15, the province invited 134 skilled worker and entrepreneur Canada immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination. The invitations were issued to the Labour Impact, Express Entry and Business Impact candidates. Among the total number of invitations issued, 127 went to Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates.
PEI PNP Expression of Interest system
Prince Edward Island PNP launched the Expression of Interest system in 2018 and has been conducting monthly EOI draws ever since. In 2021, PEI issued a total of 1933 invitations. Out of these, 1764 invitations went to Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates.
Prince Edward Island Express Entry Stream
The Express Entry category of PEI PNP targets those candidates who are already in the federal Express Entry pool. If selected, these candidates receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points, which guarantees them an Invitation to Apply(ITA) for Canada immigration in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw. The Express Entry stream of PEI PNP has two pathways under it, one is for those who have a job offer from a PEI employer and the other is for those who do not have a job offer.
Prince Edward Island Labour Impact Category
This category has two streams under it, the Skilled Worker Stream and the Critical Worker Stream. The skilled Worker Stream is for those foreign workers who already have a job offer from a PEI employer. They must also meet the following requirements:
- The employment offer must be in an occupation classified under TEER category 0, 1, 2 or 3 of the National Occupation Classification(NOC)
- The candidate must have completed post-secondary level education, with at least 14 years of formal education.
- Age must be between 21 and 55 years
- They must have at least two years of full-time work experience acquired within the past 5 years
- Required level of language proficiency
- Sufficient settlement funds
- Intention to settle in Prince Edward Island 2022
Critical Worker Stream
Critical Worker Stream is for foreign workers who are already in PEI and working in specific critical demand occupations. They must have job offer in any of the following occupations:
- Truck driver
- Customer service representative
- Labourer
- Food & beverage server
- Housekeeping attendant
They must also meet the following requirements:
- Six months of work experience with the business which offers them employment
- A valid Canadian work permit
- High school diploma. At least 12 years of formal education
- At least 2 years of full-time work experience
- Basic proficiency in English or French
- Sufficient settlement funds
- Intention to settle in Prince Edward Island
