Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry is one of the streams under the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) aligned to the federal Express Entry system. The stream allows the province of Nova Scotia to nominate skilled workers with post-secondary level education and other qualifications for permanent residence in Canada. Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry stream has two categories:
- Category A: Arranged Employment in Nova Scotia
- Category B: Paid Work Experience in an Opportunity Occupation
In order to apply under Category A of the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry, the candidate must have an arranged, full-time job offer with a duration of at least one year from a Nova Scotia employer, supported by a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment(LMIA). The job offered must be classified under National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Type/Level 0, A, or B. At the same time, the pre-requirement for a Category B application is paid work Experience in an opportunity occupation. The candidate must have at least one year of continuous full-time work experience or an equal amount of part-time paid work experience, acquired in the past six years in an opportunity occupation.
Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry requirements
- An active Express Entry profile
- Minimum education experience equal to Canadian high school diploma. Candidates who have acquired their qualification from outside Canada must produce Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) results.
- One year full-time or equivalent part-time paid work experience acquired in the last six years in an NOC Skill Type 0, Skill Level A or B occupation.
- A job offer with a validity of at least one year after the candidate becomes a permanent resident.
- Minimum language proficiency equal to Canadian Language Benchmark(CLB 7) in English or French
In order to qualify under Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry category, a candidate must score at least 67 out of 100 on the unique point grid for the same. Points are awarded on the basis of a number of selection factors such as education, language proficiency, work experience etc.

The candidate must prove that they have enough funds to establish themselves and support dependent family members in the province of Nova Scotia. The amount changes according to the size of the family. The fund must be in the candidate’s name or in the name of the accompanying spouse besides being liquid, unencumbered, transferable and available to the candidate. Proof of funds is not required if the candidate has a valid job offer from a Nova Scotia employer or if the candidate is currently working or is authorized to work in Nova Scotia.
In the case of arranged employment, the family income of the candidate must be above Statistics Canada’s Low-Income Cut-off.
The candidate must show genuine intend to settle in Nova Scotia. In the settlement plan, they need explain why they chose the province and include details such as accommodation, employment, schools or child care, language training plans and integration into the community etc.

How to apply
The candidate must first create an Express Entry profile, as they need to submit the Express Entry profile number and job seeker code while applying under the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry stream. Then the candidate must submit the application along with all the required supporting documents. After a review of the application, the candidate will be informed whether they are eligible to receive nomination. If the candidate accepts the nomination, he/she can apply for permanent residence within 90 days.
