Immigrants who did not have a job offer received 90% of Canada’s PR invitations through Express Entry in the first and second quarters of the year 2017. The data was revealed by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC).
The reduction of points for job offer by the Immgration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada is observed to be the main reason for the rise in PR invitations. Earlier, the candidates with a job offer used to receive additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points. But now it has been reduced to between 50 and 200 based on the position. When the points for the job offer were not reduced, the percentage of candidates without a job offer who received PR invitations was 62%.
Reducing points for job offer was part of the decision to give priority to human capital in immigration. The human capital factors include work experience, education, proficiency in French and English and age. The maximum CRS points a candidate can earn is 600. The candidates who score high in human capital credentials are given highest priority in selection. This is especially true for the Federal Skilled Worker Class category of Express Entry. High score in human capital factors can be translated as the potential to earn high salary, Canada immigration authorities believe.
The other major changes in Canada immigration rules introduced last month include extra points for study in Canada, broadening of the constituents of a qualifying job, and increase in the time available for submitting application for immigration after receiving the Invitation to Apply(ITA).
