In a draw held on July 25th, 2018, British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) issued 400 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination to candidates under its Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC streams. British Columbia PNP has two Express Entry categories– Express Entry BC: Skilled Worker and Express Entry BC: International Graduate. Those who have received invitations to apply under these categories will receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points upon successful application. It means a better chance to be invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP)
British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program is one of the most varied among Canadian PNPs, having two separate streams for workers and graduate–Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration. BC PNP also has a stream for entrepreneurs. Some categories of BC PNP are managed under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). Under this system, the candidate has to submit an Expression of Interest. Then they are assigned a score out of 200 based on various factors including education, work experience, language proficiency etc. The highest-scoring candidates selected in the periodic draws conducted by BC PNP will be invited to apply for provincial nomination.
Another important scheme is the Tech Pilot program, through which tech and IT workers can immigrate to BC. Usually, candidates applying to categories under BC PNP require an indeterminate, full-time job offer from a British Columbia employer. But BC PNP Tech Pilot candidates are supposed to have a job offer that lasts for at least one year.
