In a draw held on November 8, Manitoba invited a total of 469 candidates belonging to Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas immigration categories to apply for provincial nomination.
Out of total invitations, 300 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued to Expression of Interest (EOI) candidates in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba category. These candidates were required to score a minimum 679 points on the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)’s unique points system. This points system awards candidates a score out of 1000 on the basis of a number of factors including education qualification, work experience and connection to Manitoba.
The remaining 169 invitations were issued to candidates belonging to the Skilled Worker Overseas category. Candidates selected through the Strategic Recruitment Initiative under this category were required have a minimum score of 705 and candidates with connections to Manitoba were required to have 610 to be invited.
Manitoba Skilled Worker Immigration Stream
The first step in applying for provincial nomination through one of the Skilled Worker Immigration categories of Manitoba is to create an Expression of Interest (EoI) profile. If you are eligible, you will enter the EoI pool, where you will be ranked based on your scores. Highest scoring candidates will be invited to apply for provincial nomination.
The candidates who have received LAAs can submit the complete application for provincial nomination within 60 days through their online MPNP account. The candidates who successfully obtain provincial nomination can apply for permanent residence in Canada.
Skilled Workers in Manitoba category
Temporary foreign workers and international student graduates currently working in Manitoba can apply for provincial nomination under this category. They must also have a permanent job offer issued by their current employer. Though the candidates need not be subject to a points-based assessment to determine their eligibility, they need to meet certain other basic requirements in order to enter the Expression of Interest pool. These include:
-They must have worked for their currently Manitoba employers for at least six months continuously.
-Meet all the requirements for the job position offered to them, including training, education, certification or license
-Required level of English/French proficiency
-Demonstrate stronger connection to Manitoba through employment compared to other provinces
-A settlement plan
-Financial capacity to settle in the province
Skilled Worker Overseas Category
This category is for candidates who may be outside of Canada but have strong connection to Manitoba. The candidates are assessed on the basis of a number of factors such as language proficiency, age, work experience, adaptability and work experience.
In order to qualify, the candidate needs to score a minimum of 60 points out of 100 in the points assessment grid. The candidate must also demonstrate a connection to Manitoba in the form of friends or family, work experience or education in the province or an invitation to Apply issued by the MPNP.
