In the latest Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) draw held on September 12, a total of 347 skilled foreign workers and international graduates were invited to apply for a provincial nomination. Of these, 45 invitations went to Express Entry candidates.
In less than a month, MPNP has issued more than 700 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) through its Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas categories as well as the International Education Stream. With the latest Manitoba draw, the total number of LAAs issued through these three immigration pathways so far this year has touched 6157.
Skilled Worker in Manitoba category
In the September 12 Manitoba draw, a total of 254 LAAs were issued to candidates in the Skilled Worker in Manitoba category. This category provides a pathway for temporary foreign workers and international student graduates currently working in Manitoba a chance to settle in the province. However, the candidate must have an eligible full-time, permanent job offer and meet other relevant criteria to qualify under the stream.
The skilled worker categories of Manitoba operate on an Expression of Interest (EoI) basis. So the candidates must first create an Expression of Interest (EoI) profile in which they must provide information on their education, work experience and language proficiency, among other factors. Each profile is then awarded a score out of 1000 and the highest scoring candidates are invited to apply provincial nomination. The minimum score of the Skilled Worker in Manitoba candidate invited in the September 12 Manitoba draw was 545.
Skilled Worker Overseas stream
In the September 12 Manitoba draw, 53 LAAs were issued to candidates belonging to the Skilled Worker Overseas category of MPNP. The candidates were invited directly through a Strategic Recruitment Initiative that includes overseas recruitment missions organized by the MPNP in association with Manitoba employers. The lowest score of Skilled Worker Overseas candidates in this draw was 706.
International Education Stream
Manitoba graduates with skills required by the province’s labour market needs can apply for provincial nomination through the International Education Stream (IES) of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program(MPNP). The category has three streams: Career Employment Pathway, Graduate Internship Pathway, and the Student Entrepreneur Pathway. International Education Stream candidates received 40 LAAs in the September 12 draw.
