Ontario’s Latest Express Entry Draw Targets Health Occupations with CRS Score between 414 – 444

Human Capital Priorities Stream

Ontario has conducted a new draw through its Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream, issuing 1,269 invitations specifically targeting health occupations for Canada immigration. This draw was issued under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) and it was conducted on September 12, 2024   and aimed at candidates having CRS score of 414 – 444 points.

The latest draw conducted by the OINP was targeting those sectors where there is a high demand for human resources in the province of Ontario especially in the health sector. The targeted occupations are very diverse, ranging from health care managers to certain types of surgeons and specialized dentists.

Here are some of the key occupations included in the draw:

  • Managers in health care (NOC 30010)
  • Specialists in clinical and laboratory medicine (NOC 31100)
  • General practitioners and family physicians (NOC 31102)
  • Veterinarians (NOC 31103)
  • Dentists (NOC 31110)
  • Pharmacists (NOC 31120)
  • Psychologists (NOC 31200)
  • Occupational therapists (NOC 31203)
  • Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses (NOC 31301)
  • Licensed practical nurses (NOC 32101)
  • Medical laboratory technologists (NOC 32120)

For the complete list of occupations, refer to Ontario’s official webpage.

Candidates who were selected from the Express Entry pool received a Notification of Interest (NOI) through their Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) account. This allows them to apply for a provincial nomination, which can significantly increase their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.

The draw emphasizes the need to solve the problems which Ontario has faced for quite a long time while trying to attract health care professionals to fill increasing needs of the health care sector. In this way, the province has selected certain professions, in order that the province’s healthcare was sufficiently strong and equipped for the needs of the population.

Including a wide array of healthcare positions that have been provided for within this draw, Ontario remains an ideal avenue for health care professionals who wish to work in Canada. This draw fits within the larger picture of the reaction by the province towards making sure that it strengthens its healthcare employees and ensuring that the shortages of skilled employees are met sufficiently.
