The Australian Government is well known for the way and the measures it takes to help its residents lead a high standard of life. The government provides options for its immigrants to bring in their families into Australia. The Australia Family Visas provide the option to bring in almost all family members under the various Australian Family Visa categories available. Below listed are the different types of Australian Family Visas under which an Australian citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident can bring their family members.

1. Australian Spouse Visa

The Australian Spouse Visa allows individuals who are Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents to sponsor their spouses to migrate to Australia. Individuals can also sponsor their spouse if they have been in a de facto relationship for a minimum of one year. The visas under which an individual can migrate are Spouse Visa (Subclasses 820 and 801).

2.Australian Child Visa:

Children under the of age 18 or a full-time student between 18 & 25 years of age can migrate to Australia under this visa. Children even who are aged above 18 can migrate to Australia under the Australian Child Visa provided they are unable to work due to a physical or mental disability. The sponsoring parent must be a citizen of Australia or an Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen. The visa under which a child could migrate is Australia Child Visa (Subclass 101).

3. Australian Parents Visa

An individual might be eligible to apply for an Australian Parents Visa if he/she has a child who is a citizen of Australia or an Australian Permanent Resident or an eligible New Zealand Citizen. The applying individual should have a sponsor willing to support their stay financially. The Australian Parent Visa (Subclass 103) is the one where individuals can migrate under.

4. Australian Relatives Visa

Under the Australian Relatives Visa, aged individuals who are financially dependent on their relatives or if an individual’s only remaining relatives are in Australia can migrate under this Visa. The individual should have someone who provides an assurance of support. The Australian Relatives Visa (Subclass 115) is where the one which allows relatives to migrate to Australia.

5. Australia Carer Visa

The Australia Carer Visa allows individuals to move to Australia to take care of ailing relatives who have a long-term permanent medical condition. The waiting time can sometimes be up to 5 years for this visa. The Australian Carer Visa Subclass is 116.

Other Conditions You Should Meet to Migrate Under the Australian Family Visas
  • An applicant to migrate to Australia should meet good character requirements.
  • He/she should have sufficient funds or sponsors to support their stay during the visa period.
  • The applicant should be clear from any criminal records and obtain a police clearance certificate.
  • He/she should meet the health requirements as specified.
  • The applicant should meet other requirements as specified by the immigration program.
