The population in major Australian cities such as Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane is also set to increase. It is in this context, the government is planning to focus on migration to the regional areas of Australia.
David Coleman, the Immigration Minister of Australia, has also revealed the government’s plan to focus on migration to regional areas of Australia. Speaking at the Sydney Institute recently, he said immigration is absolutely fundamental to Australia’s success as a nation and it has to be approached with clear eyes. The minister further said he would be focusing on international students and skilled migrants while encouraging people moving from overseas to live and work in regional areas of Australia.
The Immigration Department of Australia has informed that immigration intake will not decrease for 2019 and will be retained at 160,000 per year.
