What Is the Canadian Experience Class (CEC)?
The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is one of Canada’s Express Entry immigration programs designed for skilled workers who have gained eligible work experience in Canada. It provides a pathway to permanent residence for temporary foreign workers and international graduates who meet the program’s eligibility requirements.
Unlike Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws, CEC candidates do not receive an additional 600 CRS points through a provincial nomination. Instead, invitations are based on their CRS score and Canadian work experience.
How Does This Draw Compare to the Previous One?
The latest CEC draw follows the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw held on August 4, 2026, where 507 candidates received Invitations to Apply with a significantly higher CRS cut-off of 768. The difference in CRS scores is expected because PNP candidates receive an additional 600 CRS points through a provincial nomination.
The previous CEC draw, held on July 21, 2026, invited 2,000 candidates with the same minimum CRS score of 516. The latest round increased the number of invitations by 1,000, while maintaining the same CRS cut-off.
What This Means for Express Entry Candidates
The issuance of 3,000 ITAs indicates that IRCC continues to prioritize applicants with Canadian work experience. Maintaining the CRS cut-off at 516 provides greater predictability for CEC candidates in the Express Entry pool.
Candidates with CRS scores close to the current cut-off should continue improving their profiles through better language test results, additional work experience, higher education, or other eligible CRS factors. As a result, these improvements can strengthen their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in future Express Entry draws.
