In the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AIPP) draw held on November 24, the province invited 100 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for the candidates to receive an invitation was 350. Interestingly, it is one of the lowest number of invitations to be issued in an Alberta Express Entry stream draw.
Nomination Allocation for Alberta PNP in 2021
The nomination allocation for Alberta for the year 2021 is 6250 certificates. So far this year, the province has issued a total of 6094 nomination certificates. The low number of nominations left is also said to be a reason for the low number of invitations issued in the latest draw.
Alberta Express Entry Stream
The Alberta Express Entry stream is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. It allows Alberta to select eligible candidates from the federal Express Entry pool. The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for immigration under the three economic immigration programs of Canada, which are the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program. Under the Express Entry system, candidates are assessed and ranked on the basis of Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The score is awarded on the basis of various human capital factors such as age, education, work experience and language ability. Those with the highest score are invited apply for permanent residence in Canada in the federal Express Entry draws that are conducted regularly. Those candidates with a provincial nomination receive 600 additional CRS score points. It means, if a candidate with a CRS score of 350 who has received an invitation in the latest draw receives a nomination, their total CRS score will be 950. This places them in a better position to receive an invitation.
