In the two Alberta Express Entry stream draws held in January, the province invited 200 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. The first draw was held on January 19 in which 46 candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS)score of 324 received invitations. The second draw was held on January 23 and 154 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 385 received invitations.Other than having an active Express Entry profile the candidates were required to have stated their interest to permanently immigrate to the province and have demonstrated that they have work experience in an occupation that caters to the economic development and diversification priorities of Alberta, besides having family ties to the province.
Alberta Express Entry
In order to be eligible under the Express Entry stream of Alberta Advantage Immigration Program or AAIP, a candidate must have an active Express Entry profile. They must have stated their interest to permanently settle in Alberta in their Express Entry profile. Besides, they must be working in an occupation that caters to economic development and diversification priorities of Alberta. Moreover, they must have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 300.
Further, those who have a job offer from an Alberta employer, those who have studied in one of the higher education institutions of Alberta and those who have a close family member like a parent, child or sibling living in Alberta have a better chance of receiving a Notification of Interest(NOI) under the Alberta Express Entry stream.
A candidate cannot directly apply for provincial nomination under Alberta Express Entry stream. Instead, they need to be selected by the AAIP and issued a Notification of Interest in an Alberta Express Entry stream draw. If they successfully apply and obtain a provincial nomination, they will have 600 additional CRS score points added to their total CRS score and that would guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada, in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
