121 candidates invited in August 15 Alberta PNP Express Entry Stream draw

In the latest Alberta PNP draw held on August 15, a total 121 candidates received Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to apply for provincial nomination. All the invited candidates belonged to the Express Entry stream of Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program(AINP) and the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required was as low as 400. This is the second Alberta Express Entry stream draw to have held in the month of August. The earlier draw held on August 7 issued 35 invitations to candidates with a CRS score of 352 or above.

Alberta PNP Express Entry stream

The Express Entry stream of Alberta PNP is aligned to the federal Express Entry system and so the candidate must first create an Express Entry profile in order to be considered under the stream. No job offer or previous work experience in Alberta is required for candidates to be eligible. However, they should be working in an occupation that supports the economic development and diversification priorities of the province of Alberta. Alberta does not have a list of eligible occupations.
The Express Entry stream of Alberta PNP gives priority to candidates with:

  • A job offer and/or work experience in Alberta;
  • A degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer; or
  • A parent, child or sibling already living in Alberta.

Alberta PNP has conducted a total of 28 draws through its Express Entry stream ever since the stream was launched a year ago. A total of 5503 NoIs have been issued through these draws. In 2019 alone, Alberta has invited a total of 3,868 Express Entry candidates so far.

Low CRS score

Compared to the federal Express Entry draws, the CRS score requirements are usually lower for Alberta PNP’s Express Entry stream draws. The minimum CRS score requirement in the latest federal Express Entry draw was 466. But in four Alberta Express Entry stream draws held in 2019, the minimum CRS score was as low as 300. While in other two draws, the minimum CRS score was 301 and 302. At the same time, the lowest CRS score requirement in an all-program Express Entry draw in 2019 was 438.
