In the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program draw held on September 8, the province invited 436 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination. The invitations were issued through three streams under the MPNP, which are the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream, International Education Stream and Skilled Workers Overseas stream. Out of the total number of invitations issued, 388 went to Skilled Workers in Manitoba candidates and the lowest score required was 613 points. International Education Stream candidates received 41 invitations.
The remaining 7 invitations were issued to Skilled Workers Overseas candidates through a Strategic Recruitment Initiative of Manitoba and the minimum required score for them was 726. The number of Express Entry candidates who received invitations in the draw was 150.
Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream
The Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream targets candidates with skills that are in demand for Manitoba employers. Under the stream, Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program selects eligible candidates and nominates them for permanent residence in Canada. Those candidates who have previous connections to Manitoba are given priority under the stream. The stream has two pathways, Manitoba Work Experience Pathway and Employer Direct Recruitment Pathway. Work Experience Pathway is for those who are working in Canada with a temporary work permit and international graduates.
However, it is not mandatory for candidates to be working in in-demand occupations. The Employer Direct Recruitment Pathway is for those candidates who have job offers from approved Manitoba employers.
Skilled Worker Overseas Stream
Skilled Worker Overseas Stream has two pathways, Canada Express Entry Pathway and a direct provincial pathway. It targets international skilled workers with skills and training in one of Manitoba’s In-demand occupations. Under this pathway, priority is given to those candidates who have close family connections to Manitoba. Language proficiency, training and experience are the other factors that determine a candidate’s probability of being selected. Manitoba Express Entry pathway is for those candidates who have an active Express Entry profile. Candidates also need to have work experience in one of the in-demand occupations of Manitoba and a strong family connection to the province.
Human Capital Pathway is for those international skilled workers who have training and experience in one of the In-Demand Occupations of Manitoba. But they must demonstrate that have the potential to find employment soon after they arrive in Manitoba.
International Education Stream
International Education Stream is for those international graduates who have completed their education in a Manitoba institution of higher education. The three pathways under it are Career Employment Pathway, Graduate Internship Pathway and Student Entrepreneur Pathway.
