In the latest draw held on April 18, Prince Edward Island (PEI) issued 130 new invitations to Express Entry candidates and others. PEI conducts draws every month for the immigration candidates who have submitted Expressions of Interest to its provincial nominee program, PEI PNP.
In the draw held on April 18, PEI issued invitations to candidates belonging to the Express Entry, Labour Impact and Business Impact categories. With the latest draw, the total number of invitations issued by PEI PNP so far this year has reached 570.
Among the total of 130 invitations issued in the latest draw, 113 invitations were issued to candidates of Express Entry and Labour Impact categories. These candidates can now submit the completed application for provincial nomination from PEI for permanent residence in Canada. The remaining 17 invitations were issued to entrepreneur candidates through the Business Impact: Work Permit Stream category of PEI PNP. Now they are eligible to apply for a letter of support for a temporary work permit from PEI PNP.
PEI PNP Express Entry category
The Express Entry category of PEI PNP is linked to the federal Express Entry system. The first step for Express Entry candidates to apply for provincial nomination from PEI is creating an Expression of Interest profile with the PEI PNP. Each of these profiles are given a score out of 100 based on a few factors such as education, work experience, language proficiency etc. The candidates who score high are invited to apply for a provincial nomination in the draws that are held every month.
The candidates who obtain provincial nomination from PEI would receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points that would guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
PEI PNP Labour Impact category
The Labour Impact category of PEI PNP is not aligned with the federal Express Entry system. This category is divided into three EOI-based streams — Skilled Workers (in PEI and outside Canada), International Graduates and Critical Workers. In order to be eligible for provincial nomination under the Labour Impact category, candidates must have an eligible full-time, long-term job offer from an employer in the province, among other criteria.
PEI PNP Business Impact: Work Permit Stream
PEI’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream invites eligible foreign entrepreneurs with business ownership or eligible management experience who would like to invest in and run a business in PEI. The Work Permit stream also operates on an EOI basis and the lowest score of candidates invited in the April 18 draw was 107.
