In the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) draw held on October 20, the province invited 204 candidates to apply for provincial nomination. Among the total number of invitations issued, 194 invitations went to Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates. The remaining 10 invitations were issued to Business Impact candidates with a minimum score of 72 points.
Last year, Prince Edward Island issued a total of 1933 invitations. Among these, 1764 were Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates. The remaining ones were Business Impact Candidates.
Prince Edward Island Express Entry stream
The Express Entry category of the PEI PNP targets candidates who are already in the federal Express Entry pool. The selected candidates are issued invitations to apply for provincial nomination. If they successfully apply for and obtain provincial nomination, they will receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points, which increases their chances of obtaining an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
Prince Edward Island Labour Impact Category
Even those who do not have an Express Entry profile may apply under Prince Edward Island Labour Impact Category. However, the candidates need to have a valid job offer and support from the employer to settle in Canada. The Labour Impact category has two streams under it, which are the Skilled Worker Stream and Critical Worker Stream.
To be eligible under the Skilled Worker Stream, the candidates must have a full-time job offer from a Prince Edward Island employer for an occupation classified under skill level 0 or A or B of the National Occupational Classification (NOC). Post-secondary education is the minimum level of education required and the candidates should also have acquired at least two years of work experience in the past five years. Further, the candidate must demonstrate sufficient level of language proficiency, settlement funds and intention to settle in Prince Edward Island.
Critical Worker Stream is for foreign workers who are already in PEI, working in specific critical-demand occupations. The candidates must have a full-time job in PEI and earned at least six months of work experience. Minimum education level is high school diploma. Two years of work experience, basic proficiency in English or French, sufficient settlement funds and intention to settle in Prince Edward Island are the other requirements.
