A few major changes have been introduced to Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program. Besides the changes introduced to the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), a new International Education Stream has also been introduced.
Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program(MPNP)
The new changes that were introduced are a part of a broad restructuring of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program. The changes were implemented for the:
MPNP Business Immigration Stream
- The Business Immigration Stream of Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program has been renamed Business Investor Stream (BIS).
- The Stream has been divided into two pathways: Entrepreneur Pathway and Farm Investor Pathway.
- Priority will be given to applicants who can start a business within 12 months of their arrival and who plan to establish business outside Winnipeg.
- Applicants of the Entrepreneur Pathway will receive a temporary work permit.
- Instead of providing a deposit of $100,000 they will have to sign a business performance agreement to purchase an existing business or start a new one.
Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream
- The Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream of Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program will be divided into two pathways:
- Manitoba Work Experience Pathway is for those working with temporary work permits in Manitoba and whose jobs are not included in the In-demand Occupations List.
- Employer Direct Recruitment Pathway is for international applicants with job offers from pre-approved employers.
Skilled Workers Overseas Stream
A new In-demand Occupations List will be introduced which will be used to prioritize Expressions of Interest (EOI) for inviting applications. The stream of Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program will be divided into two pathways:
- Express Entry Pathway will allow Manitoba to nominate qualified applicants who meet the criteria for Canada’s Express Entry Stream and have an active Express Entry profile. Priority will be given to applicants who have:
- A minimum of six-month experience in an in-demand occupation
- A close friend or relative in Manitoba or
- A valid Invitation to Apply issued by the MPNP authorities
- Human Capital Pathway is for international skilled workers with skills and training in an occupation included in the In-demand Occupations List.
International Education Stream
Under the new stream of Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program, international graduates from Manitoba institutions who have found a long-term job in an in-demand occupation will not have to work for six months before applying for the MPNP. The stream will provide faster pathways for international students graduating in Manitoba and whose skills meet the needs of the province.
