In the 98th Express Entry draw held on September 5, 2018, a whopping 3900 candidates were issued invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residence in Canada. This is so far the largest Express Entry draw held in 2018 and the second largest till date. The minimum required Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was 440, the same as in the previous two draws held on August 8 and August 22. This is also the lowest CRS cut-off threshold in the year 2018.
As in the previous draws, tie-break rule was applied in August 22nd Express Entry draw too, the date and time being April 29, 2018 at 14:28:34 UTC. It means all candidates with a CRS score of 440 and above, who submitted their profiles before the said date and time, received Invitations to Apply.
Including today’s draw, the IRCC has so far issued a total of 58,600 ITAs over 18 draws in 2018. The September 5 draw has broken the trend of issuing 3,750 ITAs which continued in the six consecutive draws held after June 13. This year, the Express Entry draws followed a pattern where the number of ITAs issued was retained as same over a series of draws and then raised by 250 or 500. In the beginning of this year, the draw size was 2750, which has gradually risen to the current size of 3900.
