In a rare Monday Express Entry draw held on September 24, the Government of Canada issued 400 invitations to Federal Skilled Trades Class(FSTC) candidates. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for this draw was 284. Tie-break rule was applied in this Express Entry draw too, the date and time being February 18, 2018, at 12:31:16 UTC. It means all FSTC candidates with a CRS score of 284 and above, who submitted their profiles before the said date and time, were invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
Those who have received invitations can submit completed application for Canada PR within 60 days. Program-specific Express Entry draws are conducted only rarely. The last time a draw for FSTC candidates was held was on May 30, 2018. A total of 500 FSTC candidates were invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence in that draw and the minimum CRS score required was 288.
Federal Skilled Trades Class
Under the Federal Skilled Trades Class, individuals certified to work in certain occupations and having a valid job offer can apply for permanent residence in Canada.
In order to be eligible to apply under Federal Skilled Trades Class, a candidate must:
-Have minimum two years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within the last five years
-Meet the job requirements for that skilled trade as specified in the National Occupational Classification, except for needing a certificate of qualification.
-Have a valid full-time job offer for a period of at least one year or a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial or federal authority.
Federal Skilled Trades Class is one of the three economic immigration programs of Canada managed by the Express Entry system. The September 24 draw was the 100th Express Entry draw to have held after the system came into existence in January 2015.
