In the latest invitation round held on September 4th, Quebec invited 32 candidates with an Arrima profile to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ), according to the details released by the Quebec Ministry of Immigration (MIDI) recently.
All the selected candidates had an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile and a valid job offer. A few foreigners working as diplomats, consular officers or representatives of an intergovernmental organization such as the United Nations in Quebec also received invitations.
Compared to the previous invitation round held on August 19 when 444 candidates were invited, there was a significant drop in the number of invitations issued in the latest draw.
The September 4th draw is the fourth Expression of Interest draw being conducted by the Quebec Ministry of Immigration after the Arrima system was introduced With the latest draw, the total number of invitations issued so far has reached 1426.
Quebec Expression of Interest system
Quebec introduced Arrima system in 2018 with an aim to receive Expression of Interest (EoI) profiles for Quebec Skilled Worker Program(QSWP) and manage its pool of candidates. Expression of Interest is not really an application. On the other hand, it is a way for a candidate to notify the Quebec Ministry of Immigration that they would like to be considered for a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ). With a CSQ, the candidate can apply to settle down in Quebec permanently.
Under the EoI system, a candidate creates an Expression of Interest (EoI) profile in Arrima portal. Based on the information provided in the EoI, the candidate is awarded a score after being assessed on a number of human capital factors such as age, education, training, work experience and proficiency in French.
Candidates are then invited to apply for a CSQ in the invitation round conducted by the Quebec’s Ministry of Immigration. Candidates to be invited are selected either on the basis of their scores or factors such as labour shortages in the outlying regions of Quebec.
The candidates who successfully apply for a CSQ and receive the same can apply for permanent residence to the federal government within 60 days. The candidates are awarded permanent residence after verifying their medical and criminal admissibility.
