In the Saskatchewan PNP draw held on February 25, a total of 299 candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination. The invited candidates belonged to the Express Entry subcategory under the International Skilled Worker category of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program(SINP) received invitations in the Saskatchewan PNP draw.
The invited candidates had a minimum Expression of Interest score of 70. They also needed work experience in one of the 70 in-demand occupations of Saskatchewan. Some of these eligible occupations are medical administrative assistants, retail and wholesale buyers and geological engineers.
Saskatchewan Expression of Interest system
The Expression of Interest system of Saskatchewan uses EoI system to select candidates who have the most potential to succeed in the regional labour market. They are selected on the basis of various eligibility factors such as age, education, work experience, language ability and previous connections to the province. The candidates must also demonstrate their commitment to settle in Saskatchewan. Candidates who can speak both English and French also receive additional score.
Based on these factors, each candidate is awarded a score out of 100 on the International Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid. The candidates with the highest score receive invitation to apply for provincial nomination.
Express Entry sub-category
Canada Express Entry manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class and Skilled Trades Class. Under the Express Entry system, candidates are assessed on the basis of various eligibility factors and awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System score out of 1200. Those with the highest score receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence.
To receive an invitation from Saskatchewan through Express Entry sub-category, the candidate must have an Express Entry profile and also submit an Expression of Interest to the SINP. If they obtain a provincial nomination, they will receive additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System score points that guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
