Scored above 300 in CRS? Don’t fret! CanApprove received a total of 60 Ontario nominations in 2017 out of which 10 nominations were for applicants with a CRS score below 400!
Home to Niagara Falls, Ontario is the center of Canada’s economic, social, and political life. The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) enables immigrants with skills to obtain an Ontario Provincial Nomination Certificate, which allows them to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence.
Applicants can apply through one of the following OINP immigration categories:
- Ontario Express Entry is designed for skilled workers with work experience in an eligible skilled trade who want to live and work permanently in Ontario.
- Employer Category is designed for skilled foreign workers with a job offer to permanently live and work in Ontario.
- International Student Category is designed for international students with a Master’s degree or a PhD obtained in Canada who want to live and work permanently in Ontario.
- Business Category is designed for entrepreneurs looking to implement a new business idea as well as corporations seeking to expand operations in Ontario.
What’s new in OINP?
- Candidates who score below 400 are now eligible for OINP.
- Applicants applying to the Master’s or PhD Graduate Stream can apply without a job offer.
- More than 6,000 nomination certificates have been issued within the OINP allocation for 2017.
- OINP is now accepting applications under the Corporate Stream and Expression of Interests (EOIs) in the Entrepreneur Stream.
- Ontario’s federal nomination allocation has increased from 2,500 in 2014 to 6,000 in 2017.
- On June 28, 2017, the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) announced that it would issue targeted Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to candidates who qualify for Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities (HCP) Stream and who have work experience in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector. Although the requirements for applicants with experience in the occupations mentioned below are the same as all the other HCP eligibility requirements, the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program lowered the required minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score below 400.
