Skilled immigration to Manitoba
Skilled workers can settle in Canada through either Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream or Skilled Workers Overseas stream. These streams allow Manitoba to identify candidates who can meet the labour market needs of the province. The first step to receive an invitation under any of these streams is to submit an Expression of Interest to Manitoba Immigrant Nominee Program (MPNP). Each Expression of Interest submitted in this manner is assessed on the basis of various eligibility factors and awarded a score out of 1000. Those with the highest scores receive invitations to apply for provincial nomination from Manitoba.
Skilled Worker Overseas candidates must demonstrate previous connections to Manitoba in the form of family members residing in the province or an invitation received through one of the Strategic Recruitment Initiatives of Manitoba. It is not necessary for the candidate to reside in Manitoba at the time of submitting the application. To be eligible under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream, the candidates must have a full-time job offer from a Manitoba employer.
International students graduated from one of the recognized institutions of Manitoba, who have skills that are in demand in Manitoba, may apply under any of the following immigration pathways of International Education Stream:
- Graduate Internship Pathway
- Career Employment Pathway
- International Student Entrepreneurship Pilot
Manitoba Express Entry
The Express Entry candidates who receive provincial nomination from Manitoba will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points added to their total CRS score. This guarantees them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in the federal Express Entry draw.
