In the second all-program Express Entry draw of 2022, Canada invited 1750 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score required for candidates to receive an invitation was 542. This is 15 lower compared to minimum CRS score requirement in the previous draw held on July 6, when the CRS cut-off was 557. The number of invitations issued has increased in the latest draw, compared to 1500 in the previous draw.
Second all-program Express Entry draw
This is the second all-program Express Entry draw being held by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC) after an 18-month hiatus since December 2020. Till July 6, 2022, IRCC invited only Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) through Express Entry. Between January 2021 and September 2021, IRCC conducted PNP and CEC draws in every two weeks. After September 21, 2021, the Express Entry draws only targeted PNP candidates.
Upcoming changes in Express Entry
Though all-program draws have been resumed, Canada is planning to implement more changes to Express Entry in the coming future. The Bill C-19, which has been passed in the Canadian Parliament recently will come into force in early 2023. This would allow IRCC to hold targeted draws for inviting Express Entry candidates based on the economic goals of the country. The invitations would be based on occupation, educational credential, language ability, or other relevant factors rather than Comprehensive Ranking System score. The invited candidates can apply for permanent residence in Canada. The candidates with a provincial nomination will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking Systems score points.
