In the 12th Express Entry draw of 2023 held on May 10, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 589 immigration candidates to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The draw specifically targeted Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 691. This is the fourth PNP-specific draw being held in 2023. The last PNP draw was on March 1 which invited 667 immigration candidates.
Express Entry draws of 2023
In the last all-program Express Entry draw held on April 12, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC) had invited 3500 candidates. Before that, in the month of March, IRCC invited more than 21000 candidates over four consecutive draws. Three draws held in March invited 7000 candidates each. Also, the first-ever Federal Skilled Workers Program-specific draw in the history of Express Entry was also held in 2023, on February 2.
Canada Express Entry
Express Entry is an online system for managing applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs of Canada, which are Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades (FST), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). To receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada under Express Entry, a candidate must first create an Express Entry profile. Then they will be assessed on the basis of various human capital factors and awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Those with the highest score will be invited to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw. Normally, Express Entry draws are held in every two weeks. Candidates with a provincial nomination will have 600 additional CRS score points added to their total CRS score. It gives them a better chance to get an Express Entry invitation. Also, PNP-specific Express Entry draws also target them exclusively.
