The Express Entry stream of Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), launched in 2019, is a popular immigration pathway for skilled professionals to live and work in Alberta. In order to apply for provincial nomination under this stream of Alberta provincial nominee program, the candidates need to have a profile registered with the Express Entry system. Manitoba has access to the Express Entry pool and the AINP selects candidates found to be suitable for the Express Entry stream and who have earned at least minimum scores on the Alberta PNP Points Calculator from the pool. Afterwards, they are issued Notification of Interest to apply for provincial nomination based on their scores on the Alberta PNP Points Calculator.

As the Express Entry stream of Alberta is aligned to the federal Express Entry system, it does not have a separate Alberta PNP Points Calculator. The candidates who score 67 points out of 100 under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) points criteria, which can also be considered as the Alberta PNP Points Calculator, and meet other basic criteria of AINP- Express Entry stream are eligible to apply.

In the Alberta PNP Points Calculator, points are calculated on the basis of six selection factors–age, education, work experience, language ability (English/French), Adaptability and Arranged Employment.
