  • Enough funds for the prime applicant and their dependent family members to settle down in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Required level of language proficiency.

Skilled Worker category

Employers can nominate foreign skilled workers for provincial nomination from Newfoundland and Labrador through this category.

Eligibility criteria

  • A permanent, full-time job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer
  • The offered job must comply with the rules related to wages and services in the province.
  • The qualification, training and documentation needed to fulfill the responsibilities related to the occupation.
  • A work permit obtained from the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or the eligibility to obtain one. If the applicant already has a work permit, it must have a validity of at least six months at the time of application.
  • The intention to live and work in Newfoundland and Labrador

  • The employer must prove that the skills of the foreign worker are needed for the growth of his business

International Graduate Category

International students who have completed education in one of the recognized higher education institutions of Canada may apply for a provincial nomination through this category.

Eligibility criteria

  • The candidate must have completed education from one of the recognized higher education institutions of Canada.
  • If the completed study program is a degree or diploma, the duration must be at least two years. If the qualification is post-graduation, the duration of the study program must be at least one year.
  • A full-time, permanent job offer
  • The candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada. In other words, the candidate must hold a work permit issued by IRCC
  • The qualifications, training and documentation needed to perform the responsibilities as part of the occupation
  • The intention to live and work in Newfoundland and Labrador
  • The job offer must comply with the wages and services rules of Newfoundland and Labrador
  • The job offered must have the potential for advancement.
  • Enough funds for the prime applicant and their dependent family members to settle down in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Language test results to prove that the applicant has the language proficiency to fulfill his job-related responsibilities.

Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program is being implemented by the Government of Canada with an aim to find a solution for the scarcity of skilled labour and low population growth in these provinces. This Program helps to attract foreign skilled workers to settle in the Atlantic provinces of Canada. The eligible candidates are selected under the Program through employers. Newfoundland and Labrador being an Atlantic province, is also part of this Program. Eligible candidates can settle in Newfoundland and Labrador also through the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program.
