If you’re all about starting your career in Canada, the Federal Skilled Worker Program could be a great pathway. Here’s some detailed information about the Federal Skilled Worker Program.
Federal Skilled Worker Program
The Federal Skilled Worker Program is an immigration pathway that pulls in skilled immigrants with skilled work experience in specific occupations for at least a year who wish to become permanent residents in Canada.
However, since this program does not require residency in Canada, it can be a great choice for immigrants who reside abroad. These skilled immigrants are evaluated based on various factors that help Canada build its economy.

To meet the basic requirements for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, you must:
- Meet the minimal language proficiency requirements in speaking, writing, listening, and reading in either French or English.
- Hold a foreign education credential with an ECA (Education Credential Assessment) from a renowned institution or a completed Canadian education credential.
- Have a minimum of 1 year of continuous full-time paid work experience in the same occupation, or the equivalent in part-time experience under TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 skill level occupation, within the last ten years from the date your application is submitted.

- Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria mentioned for the program, such as education, language proficiency, and work experience. Check your score on the Federal Skilled Worker points grid.
- Gather the necessary documents required to create your Express Entry profile. To create one, you’ll need a valid passport, test results from an approved language test, and an educational credential assessment.
- Create an Express Entry profile online through the IRCC portal. Fill in your personal information. Enhance your profile by ranking under the CRS score.

- You must complete a medical exam and submit a police clearance certificate. Also, provide work reference letters from your employers.
- A Canadian immigration officer will review your application for approval.
- You will receive an update on the status of your application. This process takes six to twelve months on average to be processed.
