In the latest Express Entry draw that took place on April 11, Wednesday, IRCC sent invitations to apply (ITAs) to a total of 3500 candidates in the Express Entry pool. The largest Express Entry draw to take place in 2018, this draw saw candidates with CRS scores as low as 444 receiving invitations. In the four preceding draws this year, ITAs were sent to 3000 candidates in each. In the previous draw that was held on March 26, the minimum cut-off score was 446. In total, IRCC has issued 21000 ITAs till now this year.
The April 11 Express Entry draw is the 87th since the Express Entry system came into operation in January 2015 and seventh in the year 2018.
Tie-break rule
As in the previous draws, tie-break rule was applied in the April 11 draw also. The time and date of the tie-break was March 26, 2018 at 08:25:40 UTC. It means all candidates with a CRS score of 444, who submitted their profiles before this time, received invitations.
Canada’s Express Entry System
Canada Express Entry is a fast-track system for immigration for highly skilled workers and students. The skills and abilities of a candidate are assessed based on a point-based system known as the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) where the Canadian government assesses the applicants and awards scores. Canadian employers and provincial governments across Canada have access to the profiles. The best candidates are invited by the Federal government to apply for Canadian permanent residence. The system targets and gives permanent residency status to applicants who can contribute to the economic growth of Canada.
As per the multi-year immigration levels plan for 2018-2020 of Canada, the federal government has set a target of 74,900 admissions for the three economic immigration classes administered through the Express Entry system– the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC), the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), or the Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC).
