STEM

Highlights

1. IRCC conducted its 254th Express Entry draw on July 05.
2. Foreign nationals in the federal pool with work experience in STEM occupations must have been ranked 500 or above to get invited under this category-based round of invitations.
3. The lowest-rank candidate had a CRS score of 486 in this draw.

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held its first-ever category-based Express Entry draw for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) professionals yesterday.

The July 05 draw issued 500 invitations to apply (ITA) under three Express Entry programs for direct Canadian permanent residence (PR). Canada pnp finderIRCC preferred older registered profiles in the federal pool, keeping the tie-breaker cut-off date close to November 23, 2022. The tie-break rule is beneficial in cases where two or more candidates end up with the same CRS score.

Canada invited eligible profiles from 20+ STEM occupations. The minimum qualifying scores based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) remained at 486.

July 05 also marks the second category-based Express Entry draw of 2023 and the 18th overall.
