The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC) has invited 3600 candidates to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the latest Express Entry draw held on September 4. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cut-off threshold was 463. As in the previous draws, tie-break rule was applied in this Express Entry draw too, the time stamp given being August 23, 2019 at 13:33:34 UTC. It means not all candidates who have a minimum CRS score of 463 have received Invitations to Apply. The draw prioritized candidates who submitted their Express Entry profiles before the said date and time.
Compared to the previous Express Entry draw, CRS cut-off score witnessed a slight increase in the latest draw by six points. The minimum CRS score requirement in the previous draw held on August 20 was 457. Immigration experts attribute this increase in CRS cut-off score to a slightly larger-than-usual time lapse between the two consecutive draws. Usually, Express Entry draws are held in every two weeks. However, more than two weeks passed between the two latest draws. It means more number of candidates entering the Express Entry pool and more existing candidates improving their CRS scores.
At the same time, it is a hopeful fact for the prospective Express Entry immigrants that IRCC has been issuing 3,600 ITAs for the past several draws. The number of ITAs issued is higher compared to many of the Express Entry draws held in the first half of 2019. It is expected that the larger number of ITAs in the recent draws may lead to a decrease in CRS score requirement, as more candidates would be pulled from the pool.
As per the updated Immigration Levels Plan of Canada for 2019-2021, around 256,000 immigrants will be admitted to Canada through Express Entry in these three years. Another 200,000 new immigrants will enter Canada through Provincial Nominee Programs.
