In the latest Prince Edward Island draw held on November 18, the province invited 188 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. Most number of invitations, 172 in total, went to Express Entry and Labour Impact category candidates. The remaining 16 invitations went to Business Impact category candidates. They were required to have scored at least 67 points on the immigration system of the province.
Prince Edward Island conducts PNP draws every month. The next PEI PNP draw is expected to take place on December 16, 2021. So far, the province has issued a total of 1729 invitations this year.
PEI PNP Express Entry category
The Express Entry category of Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. To receive an invitation through the Express Entry stream of PEI PNP, the candidate should have an active Express Entry profile. They must also submit an Expression of Interest to the PEI PNP.
The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. It assesses and ranks candidates on the basis of Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score for various human capital factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency etc. The candidates who have a provincial nomination will receive 600 additional CRS score points. Those with the highest CRS scores will be invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the federal Express Entry draws.
Labour Impact category
Candidates who have a valid job offer from a Prince Edward Island employer may apply under this category. It is further divided into three streams, which are Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and International Graduate. This category also requires the candidate to submit an Expression of Interest.
Business Impact category
Business Impact category candidates need to meet the minimum provincial score requirement in order to receive an invitation. This score will be different for different draws. In the latest draw, the minimum required score was 67 and the invitations were issued under the Work Permit Stream. This stream is exclusively for foreign entrepreneurs who want to own and operate a business in Prince Edward Island.
