The latest BC PNP draw held on May 7 invited 187 candidates belonging to five Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC categories to apply for provincial nomination. The Skills Immigration candidates invited by the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) belonged to the Skilled Worker, International Graduate and Entry Level and Semi-Skilled categories. The Express Entry BC (EEBC) candidates who were invited were from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories. However, BC PNP has not revealed the specific number candidates invited under Express Entry BC or Skills Immigration.
BC PNP Express Entry
The Express Entry BC categories are for candidates who have an active Express Entry profile. The Express Entry system manages the admission of candidates through the three federal economic immigration categories–Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class. The Express Entry candidates nominated by the British Columbia for permanent residence in Canada will receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points that would guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
The categories under Express Entry BC are:
- Skilled Workers (including Health Care Professionals category)
- International Post Graduates
- International Graduates
BC PNP Skills Immigration
Skills Immigration categories are for skilled and semi-skilled workers in high-demand occupations in British Columbia. Candidates are invited on the basis of a points-based system and candidates may not require prior work experience in some categories. The Skills Immigration categories under BC PNP are:
- Skilled Worker Category
- Health Care Professional Category
- International Graduate Category
- International Post-Graduate Category
- Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Category
The Skills Immigration candidates nominated by British Columbia will have their applications processed outside the Express Entry system.
SIRS
Those who wish to be nominated by British Columbia for permanent residence in Canada must first register through the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) of BC PNP. It is a points-based system to evaluate candidates on the basis of certain eligibility factors such as education, work experience, language proficiency etc. However, most of the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC immigration categories require the candidates to have an indeterminate, full-time job offer from a British Columbia employer.
Minimum scores of BC PNP candidates invited April 9:
Category | Minimum Score Required |
EEBC – Skilled Worker | 105 |
EEBC – International Graduate | 105 |
SI – Skilled Worker | 95 |
SI – International Graduate | 105 |
SI – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled | 75 |
