In a BC PNP draw held on October 24, British Columbia PNP issued 35 invitations to apply for provincial nomination to Tech Pilot candidates. All the invited candidates have a one-year full-time job offer in one of the 29 in-demand occupations under British Columbia Tech Pilot program. The Express Entry candidates who are nominated by British Columbia will receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points that will increase their chances for being invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draws. The candidates of Skills Immigration categories will have their applications for provincial nomination processed outside the Express Entry system.
British Columbia Tech Pilot Program
British Columbia PNP launched its Tech Pilot Program in 2017. It is aimed to attract global talents to British Columbia’s technology sector. British Columbia PNP invites eligible Tech Pilot candidates to apply for provincial nomination in the weekly draws. In order to be invited, a candidate must possess a valid job offer in one of the 29 eligible occupations under Tech Pilot and the duration of the offer must be at least one year.
The candidates who are invited to apply for provincial nomination can submit the completed application within 30 calendar days.
Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS)
The applicants for provincial nomination under the Skilled Worker, Entry Level and Semi-skilled, and International Graduate categories must register with the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) of British Columbia PNP. It is a point-based system that allows British Columbia PNP to prioritise candidates who can contribute towards the economic growth of the province with their skills. In order to register in SIRS, the candidate and the employer must meet certain requirements. Once registered, the candidate will be assigned scores on the basis of a number of factors such as job offer, language proficiency, education etc. The highest scoring candidates will be invited to apply for provincial nomination.
