Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program
Ontario is one of the most favourite provinces for newcomers to settle in Canada. The PNP program of Ontario is called the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program or OINP. The provincial government operates the OINP in cooperation with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Those who apply to the OINP and prove their eligibility would receive a provincial nomination, with which they can apply for permanent residence in Canada.
The OINP has different immigration categories such as Human Capital Category, Employer Job Offer category and Business Immigration category. Each of these categories also has various streams under them.
Human Capital category
This category targets those who have the skills, education and work experience to contribute to the province’s economy and labour market. It has three Express Entry streams and two international student streams, which are:
- Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream
- Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream
- Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream
- Masters Graduate Stream
- PhD Graduate Stream
Employer Job Offer Category
Those who have received a full-time permanent job offer from an Ontario employer may apply for provincial nomination under this category. It has the following streams:
- Foreign Worker Stream
- International Student Stream
- In-Demand Skills Stream
- Regional Immigration Pilot
Business Category
Under the Business category is Ontario Entrepreneur Pilot. With this pilot program, Ontario aims to create jobs in sectors such as information technology, life sciences and tourism. The applicants will be nominated for permanent residence once they prove that their business has been operating in Ontario for 18 to 20 months.
