The Government of Saskatchewan issued its first invitations for its Occupations In-Demand sub-category through the newly introduced Expression of Interest System. Saskatchewan, in a recently published update (September 20th) mentioned that 140 invitations were issued to candidates.
Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program issued 140 invitations to candidates under the Occupations In-Demand sub-Category. This targets individuals who are skilled eligible workers having work experience in one of the Saskatchewan’s mentioned in-demand occupations.
Candidates were issued invitations by assessing them under Saskatchewan’s points-based assessment grid and the lowest scored candidate among the 140 invitations had secured a score of 75 points out of 100. Reaching 60 points is the primary requirement an individual has to meet to apply for a Saskatchewan provincial nomination.
Candidates interested to apply for Occupations In-Demand sub-category should first submit an Expression of Interest which is an application process that decides one’s eligibility to migrate or not. The candidate will be assessed on factors like education & training, language proficiency, age, work experience and the applicant’s connection to Saskatchewan’s labour market.
Saskatchewan’s new Expression of Interest System came into effect on the 16th of July and replaced the first-come, first-served method for application acceptance for its Occupations In-Demand sub-categories. The Expression of Interest System helps Saskatchewan to make the immigration process smoother by targeting candidates who have higher chances to succeed in the province’s labour market and looks out for a strong economic growth & outcome in the long run.
