In the latest Expression of Interest draw held for Skilled Workers Overseas candidates on March 14, Manitoba issued 337 invitations to apply for provincial nomination. Among these, 274 invitations were issued to a group that included Express Entry candidates.
The year 2019 has so far been a busy one for the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). The province has already issued 1,931 invitations through its Skilled Workers Overseas Stream over the course of six draws this year.
Manitoba Skilled Workers Overseas Stream
The first step to be considered for provincial nomination under the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream of Manitoba is registering an Expression of Interest(EoI) profile with the MPNP. Each profile is awarded a score based on the unique points grid of Manitoba. In the Expression of Interest draws that are conducted regularly, a set number of highest-ranking candidates are invited to apply for a provincial nomination.
In the latest EoI draw held on March 14, the minimum required score for the group including Express Entry candidates was 564.The Express Entry candidates were also required to have a valid Express Entry ID and job-seeker validation code. Moreover, they were expected to have minimum six months of recent work experience in a job found in the In-Demand Occupations List of Manitoba.
Invitations were also issued to Skilled Worker Overseas candidates who had met the following requirements:
- A connection to Manitoba in the form of a close relative residing in the province or past education or work experience in the province
- Minimum language proficiency level of CLB/NCLC 5 in English or French unless the work experience is primarily in a regulated occupation. If the experience is in a regulated occupation the candidate is required to have a minimum level of CLB/NCLC 7 in language proficiency.
MPNP also issued another 63 LAAs to foreign skilled workers invited directly through an overseas Strategic Recruitment Initiative. The minimum required score for these candidates was 695.
