In the latest draw held on February 12, British Columbia invited candidates belonging to various categories under the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration streams to apply for provincial nomination.
The invitations were mainly issued to Skilled Worker and International Graduate candidates in the Skills Immigration and Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) streams. Candidates belonging to the Entry Level and Semi-Skilled categories of the Skills Immigration Stream also received invitations in the draw in which a total of 309 invitations were issued.
Express Entry BC
Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) stream of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program(BC PNP) is aligned to the federal Express Entry system, which also means the processing time of the applications would be significantly less. EEBC stream has the following categories under it:
- Skilled Workers (including Health Care Professionals category)
- International Post Graduates
- International Graduates
In order to be eligible to apply for provincial nomination under this stream, the candidates must qualify for any of the three economic immigration programs under the Express Entry–Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades and Canadian Experience Class. Besides, they must also meet other requirements such as language proficiency and funds to settle in Canada.
The Express Entry candidates who obtain provincial nomination under this stream would receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points.
Skills Immigration
The Skills Immigration stream of British Columbia has a number of categories under it and the requirements for each of these are different. The major categories under the Skills Immigration stream are:
- Skilled Worker Category
- Health Care Professional Category
- International Graduate Category
- International Post-Graduate Category
- Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Category
Candidates in the Skilled Worker, Entry Level, Semi-skilled and International Graduate categories must register with the BC PNP Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
All the Skills Immigration and Express Entry candidates invited in the draw must have an indeterminate, full-time job offer from a British Columbia employer.
