In the past few years, Ukraine has emerged as a favorite destination for international students to pursue MBBS. Sumy State University:
Located near the picturesque Lake Chekha, Sumy State University was founded in 1948. The university was ranked among the top 100 universities in the emerging Europe and Central Asia region in the QS University Rankings: EECA 2016.
Sumy State University has 16,000 students, 1,300 of whom are international students from over 50 different countries. The University offers a good range of bachelor’s degrees and PhDs in English. In total, the university offers 45 majors across 21 fields of knowledge.
The clinical teaching and practice network of Sumy State University includes one stomatological hospital, 26 clinical teaching hospitals, and 10 affiliated hospitals. Sumy State University has 2000 faculty, staff members, and medical personnel.
The university gives high importance to academic research and brings about several academic journals including The Journal of Sumy State University, Ukrainian Journal of Hypertension and the Ukrainian Journal of Cardiovascular Rehabilitation. The University also has a vast library with a collection of 153 million volumes.
Ternopil State Medical University:
Ternopil State Medical University, established in 1957, is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the town of Ternopil. The university is officially accredited by the Ministry of Health in Ukraine. It is one of the top-ranking MBBS universities in Ukraine and offers medical programs on par with international standards. The research schools of the University have a worldwide reputation for their exceptional achievements in various fields of Medicine.
Ternopil State Medical University has around 600 faculty members and over 5000 students. Among them, around 1500 are foreign students from 53 countries. The library of the university houses around 6,00,000 volumes.
Ternopil State Medical University has five faculties and 60 departments. The other institutions under the university are the Institute of Nursing Hospitals University Hospital, University Dental Center, 15 affiliated regional and municipal teaching hospitals, four practical training centers in rural areas and a recreational complex named Chervona Kalyna, which is a sports center with four modern dorms.
Odessa National Medical University:
Odessa National Medical University is the largest medical university in Ukraine and one of the oldest medical universities in eastern Europe. The university, located in Odessa, was established in 1900. It is among the first MBBS universities in Ukraine to obtain national status.
The university offers world-class higher education in the specialized fields of Medicine, Dentistry, Pediatrics, Pharmacy, Nursing, besides postgraduate education and clinical residency program.
The university is a member of International and European Associations of universities, The United Nations Educational and the International Association of Medical Universities. OSMU is also the only university in Ukraine, which is a member of MEDINE (Medical Education in Europe). Besides, the university listed in the WHO Directory of Medical Schools and the IMED of USA.
The UG course in General Medicine offered by the University has a duration of six years. After the completion of the course, the students are conferred with the degree of ‘MD Physician’, which is an equivalent of MBBS in India. Besides offering UG courses in General Medicine and Dentistry, the university also offers specializations for post-graduate studies.
