In the latest Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) Express Entry stream draw held on December 5, the province invited 132 candidates to apply for provincial nomination. The Notifications of Interest (NoIs) were issued to candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 400.
The Express Entry stream of AINP allows the province to select eligible skilled worker candidates from the federal Express Entry pool. The Express Entry candidates who are nominated by Alberta for permanent residence in Canada will also receive 600 additional CRS score points that ensure them an invitation to apply for Canada PR in the subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
Compared to the cut-off scores of the federal Express Entry draws held this year, the cut-off score of 400 set for the latest AINP Express Entry stream draw is much lower. The lowest CRS cut-off score in the federal Express Entry draws held so far this year was 438.
Though the Alberta Express Entry stream does not require a candidate to have a job offer from an Alberta employer, those with any of the following advantages are prioritized by Alberta in the draws:
- A job offer from an Alberta employer or previous work experience in the province
- A degree obtained from a post-secondary institution in Canada and a valid job offer
- A close relative such as a parent, child or sibling living in Alberta.
The nomination allocation for Alberta in the year 2019 was 6000. Alberta has issued all the 6000 invitations so far. The province is expected to resume issuing invitations to apply for provincial nomination in January 2020.
Alberta has conducted a total of 31 provincial nominee draws this year. The Express Entry stream of AINP is a favorable option for Canada immigration candidates with lower CRS scores. In the past many draws AINP has invited candidates with CRS score as low as 300. This way, AINP provides an excellent opportunity to eligible skilled workers in the Express Entry pool to move to Canada permanently and work, live or study in the province of Alberta.
