In the latest SkillSelect round held on February 11, Australia issued 1500 invitations under two General Skilled Migration Visa categories– Skilled Independent Subclass 189 visa and Skilled work Regional (provisional) Subclass 491 visa-Family sponsored. Of the total number of invitations issued, 1000 invitations went to applicants under Skilled Independent Subclass 189 visa category, while the remaining 500 invitations were issued to applicants under Skilled Work Regional (provisional) Subclass 491 visa-Family sponsored category.
The minimum score required for Subclass 189 visa applicants was 90, while Subclass 491 visa-family sponsored candidates had to score a minimum of 85 points to be invited. The invitations were issued to candidates with the highest score points. In the case of candidates with equal scores, the rank was determined on the basis of the time at which they reached their point score. Those who had submitted their Expressions of Interest earlier were prioritized in the draw compared to those who had submitted their EoIs later. The pro-rata occupations invited in the draw as well as their minimum score points are as follows:
Subclass Visa | Pro Rata Occupations | Minimum Score |
---|---|---|
189 | Accountants | 95 |
189 | Auditors, Company Secretaries and Corporate Treasurers | 95 |

In case, if all the available places are issued to Visa 189 candidates, 491 visa applicants of the above pro rata occupations will not receive any invitations.
Australia usually conducts the SkillSelect invitation rounds on the 11th of each month. However, the date may vary depending on the number of applications being processed.
