3232 CEC candidates invited in second Express Entry draw held in 5 days

In the second Express Entry draw held within a gap of just five days, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC) issued 3232 Invitations to Apply(ITAs) for permanent residence in Canada. The draw held on March 23 exclusively targeted Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates and the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) cut-off score was 467.  This is the lowest CRS cut-off score in any Express Entry draw held this year and four points lower than the last all-program draw held on March 4.

This is the second draw in the entire history of the Express Entry system that exclusively targeted Canadian Experience Class candidates after the one held in 2015. CEC is one of the three major federal economic immigration programs managed under the Express Entry. Foreign workers with at least one year of work experience in Canada and meet other criteria are targeted under the program.
The tie-break used in the draw was November 25, 2019, at 14:00:35 UTC. It means the draw prioritized those who had submitted their Express Entry profiles before the said date and time and had the minimum CRS score of 467. With the March 23 draw, the total number of ITAs issued by the IRCC through Express Entry draws so far this year has touched 22,600.

Canada having set a higher immigration target for Express Entry, is all likely to conduct more frequent and larger draws in the coming months. Unlike the all-program Express Entry draws, the CRS cut-off score for the program-specific draws like the one held on March 23 is usually low, as only a small pool of candidates is targeted. So today’s draw gives hope for many immigration candidates as it has proved that candidates with lower CRS scores can also get a chance to migrate through the Express Entry.
