In the two Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) draws held in July, a total of 194 candidates received Invitations to Apply for provincial nomination. The first draw, held on July 10, invited eight candidates belonging to Labour Impact and Express Entry categories of PEI PNP. However, the PEI PNP has not yet provided a breakdown of the number of invitations for each category.
The second draw of the month, held on July 16, was considerably larger. A total of 157 Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates received invitations in the draw. 29 Business Impact candidates also received invitations on the day.
Usually, PEI PNP holds draws based on a predetermined schedule. However, owing to coronavirus pandemic, only three draws were held since March, on June 18, July 10 and July 16. The next PEI PNP draw is scheduled to be held on August 20.
PEI PNP Express Entry
The Express Entry category of the PEI PNP is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. Those candidates who are nominated by the PEI PNP will have 600 additional points added to their total CRS score. It guarantees them an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
To be eligible under the PEI PNP Express Entry category, the candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest (EoI). Each EoI profile is assessed and awarded a score based on the unique points grid of Prince Edward Island. The candidates with the highest scores are invited to apply for provincial nomination from PEI PNP, in the monthly draws.
Labour Impact category
Labour Impact category of PEI PNP targets immigration candidates with a valid job offer from the province and the support of their employer. The Labour Impact category has three streams under it, which are: Skilled Worker, Critical Worker, and International Graduate. Under this category too, the candidates must submit an EoI profile to be considered for provincial nomination.
Business Impact category
The PEI PNP draw held on July 16 invited 29 Business Impact: Work Permit stream category candidates with a minimum EoI score of 117. The category targets those who wish to own and operate a business in PEI.
