In the Express Entry draw held on August 20, just a day after the previous PNP-specific draw was held, a total of 3300 Canadian Experience Class(CEC) candidates received invitations to apply. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the candidates invited in the draw was 454.
The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC) shifted to a pattern of alternately inviting PNP and CEC candidates after the country introducted certain restrictive measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. In the PNP-specific draw held on August 19, a total of 600 candidates received invitations to apply.
A tie-break rule was applied in the latest draw and the timestamp given was July 27, 2020 at 11:10:05 UTC. It means the draw prioritized those candidates who had score at least 454 CRS score points and submitted their profiles before the said date and time. With the latest draw, the total number of Express Entry invites issued by the IRCC has reaced 65750. It means despite the coronavirus crisis, the number of invitations issued this year is still high compared to the same time period in the previous two years. The country is still accepting Express Entry submissions and processing applications for permanent residence.
Canada Express Entry system
The Express Entry system of Canada aims to manage the applications for immigration under the three major federal economic programs of Canada, which are: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). In the Express Entry system, immigration candidates are assessed on the basis of the Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) under which, a score is awarded to each candidates on the basis of various eligibility factors such as age, work experience, education and language proficiency. Candidates with the highest score receive invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the draws that are conducted regularly. The candidates with a provincial nomination get 600 additional CRS points that guarantee them an ITA in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
