In the Saskatchewan PNP draw held on December 1, the province invited 564 candidates belonging to Express Entry and Occupations In Demand streams to apply for a provincial nomination. While the number of candidates invited under Express Entry sub-category was 138, the number of those invited under Occupations In-Demand subcategory was 426.
To receive an invitation in the draw, candidates under both the sub-categories must have submitted an Expression of Interest profile to the SINP.
In the latest draw, the candidates needed a provincial score of at least 74 to receive an invitation. They also needed work experience in one of the 86 targeted occupations and their Educational Credential Assessments done.
Saskatchewan PNP Expression of Interest system
The Saskatchewan Expression of Interest system aims to select candidates who have the potential to succeed in the regional labour market. They are assessed on the basis of various eligibility factors such as work experience, education, language ability, age, previous connections to the province etc. Based on this assessment, each candidate is awarded a score out of 100 on the International Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid. As per a recent change, candidates who are proficient in both English and French receive additional points in the points grid. Those who have the highest scores are invited to apply for a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan PNP Express Entry sub category
The number of candidates under Express Entry sub category who received invitations in the latest draw was 138. As the name indicates, this sub-category is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. The candidates who receive provincial nomination under this sub-category will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points added to their total score and that guarantees them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
Occupations in Demand sub-category
Immigration candidates who do not have a federal Express Entry profile may apply under Occupations In Demand sub category. The sub-category targets candidates with skills and work experience that are in demand in the labour market of the province. The number of Occupations In-Demand candidates who received invitations in the December 1 draw was 426. They were also required to have a minimum provincial score of 74.
