In the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) draw held on March 18, the province issued a total of 150 invitations. Out of these, 140 invitations went to Express Entry and Labour Impact category candidates. The remaining 10 invitations were issued to Business Impact candidates. They were required to have a minimum provincial score of 70.
PEI PNP Express Entry category
The Express Entry category of the Prince Edward Island PNP is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class.
The Express Entry candidates are assessed on the basis of various human capital factors and awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score out of 1200. The candidates with the highest scores receive invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The candidates who are nominated by provinces will have 600 additional CRS points added to their total CRS score, which guarantees them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in the Express Entry draw.
To receive a nomination from Prince Edward Island, the Express Entry candidates must submit an Expression of Interest to the PEI PNP. The Expressions of Interest are assessed on the basis of the unique points grid of the PEI PNP. Those with the highest scores will receive an invitation to apply for provincial nomination.
PEI PNP Labour Impact category
The Labour Impact category of PEI PNP targets those candidates with a valid job offer from PEI. There are three streams under Labour Impact category: Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and International Graduate. The Labour Impact category also operates on the basis of an Expression of Interest system.
Business Impact
The Business Impact category candidates need to have minimum required score for receiving an invitation. In the latest draw, the candidates under the Work Permit Stream were targeted. This stream is for foreign entrepreneurs who want to run a business in PEI.
