The Canadian province of Prince Edward Island held a Provincial Nominee Program draw on June 17 and invited 113 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination. Among the invited, 101 were Express Entry and Labour Impact category candidates. The remaining 12 invitations were issued to Business Impact candidates. The minimum required PNP score required for Business Impact candidates was 60.
This is the sixth Provincial Nominee Program draw being held by Prince Edward Island this year. So far, the province has invited 905 candidates in 2021. Among the invited, 816 are from Labour Impact and Express Entry streams. The remaining 89 candidates belong to the Business Impact category.
Canada PNP
The Provincial Nominee Program of Canada allows the provinces and territories of the country to select eligible candidates and nominate them for immigration to Canada. Through the Provincial Nominee Programs, these provinces select candidates who can meet their labour market requirements. If the nominated is an Express Entry candidate, they will receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points, which will guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

PEI PNP Express Entry category
The Express Entry category of the PEI PNP is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. The system manages applications for immigration under the three economic immigration programs, which are the Federal Skilled Worker Stream, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class. The Express Entry candidates are assessed on the basis of various human capital factors and awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System score out of 1200. Those with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the Express Entry draws that are conducted regularly. As those candidates who are nominated by the provinces have 600 additional CRS score points, it guarantees them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
To receive an invitation through PEI PNP, the Express Entry candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest to the PEI PNP. The EOIs are then assessed on the basis of the unique points grid of the PEI PNP and awarded a score. Those with the highest scores are invited to apply for provincial nomination in the draws that are conducted every month.
Labour Impact category
The candidates who have a valid job offer from a PEI employer may apply for provincial nomination under the Labour Impact category. The category has three streams, Skilled Worker, Critical Worker, and International Graduate. This category also requires the candidates to submit an Expression of Interest to the PEI PNP.
