Alberta has launched a new fast-track immigration program for those who have work experience in technology-related occupations. The Accelerated Tech Pathway, launched on January 13, exclusively targets Express Entry candidates who are eligible under the Alberta Express Entry stream. The province had already started accepting applications for the new program in December.
Under the Pathway, those candidates who have a job offer from Alberta in an in-demand tech industry occupation can become permanent residents in the province within just six months. Along with priority processing, the candidates will also receive a letter of support from the Government of Alberta if they require a work permit.
Alberta’s technology sectors is growing in a fast pace and in the past few years since 2012, it has witnessed a growth of 233%. The province currently has more than 3000 tech companies, as per the data from the Alberta Enterprise Corporation.
